Standard Bank Data Science Learnership 2026 – Johannesburg
Standard Bank is recruiting unemployed South African graduates under 30 for a 24-month Data Science Learnership starting on 1 October 2026. Learners earn a monthly stipend of R15 000 plus student medical aid, and work towards an accredited Occupational Certificate: Data Science Practitioner while gaining supervised experience at the bank’s offices at 5 Simmonds Street in Johannesburg and/or 30 Baker Street in Rosebank.
The programme combines data science training with the bank’s internal audit function, so learners apply analytical methods to real audit objectives — examining datasets, identifying unusual patterns and testing controls.
Key Responsibilities Learners will support senior team members with defined data-analysis assignments, run analytical procedures on business and audit datasets, identify anomalies and control gaps, create clear visual outputs, organise datasets and analytical code, follow data-governance requirements, and develop simple evidence-based recommendations.
Minimum Requirements Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens younger than 30.
- Hold an undergraduate qualification in information technology, computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, econometrics, quantitative analysis, engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Speak, read and write English confidently.
- Not participate in another learnership or internship, and not study at another institution, during the programme.
- Be available for the full 24-month contract from 1 October 2026.
