Cleaner (X20 Posts) – Weskoppies Hospital, Pretoria

The Gauteng Department of Health is filling twenty permanent Cleaner posts at Weskoppies Hospital in Pretoria. Cleaners are essential to patient safety in a hospital — the work directly supports infection prevention and keeps wards, kitchens and facilities safe for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities Successful applicants will clean wards, offices, bathrooms, corridors and hospital facilities; clean floors, walls, windows, furniture, beds, lockers and equipment; remove waste according to infection control procedures; clean kitchens and wash dishes and utensils; use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely; restock soap, toilet paper and other consumables; collect meals, beverages and clean linen; complete daily cleaning records; and report maintenance problems and safety hazards.

Minimum Requirements Applicants must have:

• Grade 10 or Grade 12.
• The ability to read and write.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical fitness to perform cleaning duties.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• An honest, reliable and responsible approach.

One year or more of cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical environment, and knowledge of infection prevention and control, are advantages — not requirements.
